Contributing Guide
How to contribute research, corrections, and new content to the isHistory digital archive.
isHistory welcomes contributions from technologists, historians, and anyone passionate about preserving engineering stories.
Ways to Contribute
1. Research & Writing
Submit new chapters or expand existing ones through our GitHub repository. Each chapter should follow the Research Methodology guidelines and include proper source citations.
2. Corrections & Errata
Found a factual error? Open an issue on the discussion board with:
- The specific claim that needs correction
- Primary source evidence contradicting it
- Your suggested replacement text
3. Obsidian Notes
If you use Obsidian, you can contribute vault notes directly. These are lighter-weight than full chapters — research notes, source transcriptions, and connective commentary that enriches the archive.
Content Standards
All content must:
- Cite primary sources where available
- Distinguish between established facts and interpretation
- Follow the Content Schema conventions for metadata
- Be written for a technically literate but not specialist audience
Technical Setup
See Technical Stack for the development environment setup, and [[Vision & Architecture]] for the principles that guide all content decisions.
